Nes” (נֵס) – Miracle

Every night of Hanukkah, we hear the phrase “Nes Gadol Haya Sham” – "A great miracle happened there."

The word "Nes" (נֵס) means miracle, and it’s at the heart of Hanukkah’s story. From the oil that burned for 8 days to the improbable victory of the Maccabees, "Nes" reminds us that hope, faith, and action create possibilities where none seem to exist.
